Artificial Grass for Play Areas in Loughborough

There continues to be a more common sight of artificial grass for play areas in Loughborough and it is quite easy to see why. Compared to a concrete surface it is much more forgiving from a slip and fall perspective. This can be softened even further with the inclusion of additional underlay options. However, aside from the safety aspect, which is clearly important the biggest plus point for pupils and teachers is that they have an outdoor play area which can be used much more throughout the year. If artificial turf has been used to replace natural grass the area can be used in wet conditions as with a good quality installation you should be able to significantly notice much less water building up on the surface of either a grass or concrete surface. The drainage puts it ahead of rubber mulch which will drain at a much slower rate and it will not smell, deteriorate and spread like wood chippings.

All round it provide a paying surface that can be used much more through out the year, it looks good and requires very little maintenance and doesn't add to cleaning maintenance requirements when pupils come back inside again.

Artificial grass for Nursery Schools in Loughborough

Very similar principles apply for artificial grass for nurseries in Loughborough as for play areas - in fact they are often the same thing however nurseries typically request higher levels of foam underlay to provide additional shock absorption. Regardless of whether it is a nursery or a primary school if either have an artificial grass lawn fitted under a climbing frame it is mandatory to have the right level of shock absorption. Clearly an establishment responsible for the welfare of children will need to comply with appropriate Head Impact Criteria (HIC). This will be determined by the potential height from which a child could fall. Since most children's climbing frames don't try to compete with Everest more often than not a 20mm foam shock underlay will ensure compliance.

Looking for the artificial grass for a play area in Loughborough?

Frequently Asked Artificial Grass for Play Areas Questions:

  • What's the different between artificial grass and artificial grass in a play area in Loughborough?

The most common difference, as understood by artificial grass installation professionals, will be the extra padding that is installed under the final artificial grass layer to add an increased level of shock absorption, which means that for young children any fall will be much less painful than if installed straight on top of a tarmac base for example.

If artificial grass is to be fitted under a play area where there is a climbing frame then shock absorption pads should always be fitted.

  • Can you help me choose the best artificial grass our school?

    Absolutely.

There would be nothing worse than spending the time, effort, and money to end up with the wrong artificial grass for your school and the children using it. We ask a few simple questions regarding where it will be fitted on and how it will be used and how often. We will even advise on foam underlays for certain sports or play areas where some additional shock absorption is needed.

  • How much does it cost to fit artificial grass for a play area in Loughborough?

For a play area that requires additional shock-absorbing padding to be installed this will add about another £20-£25 per square meter of installed costs.

  • Will artificial grass in a play area fade over time?

    Yes and No.

Some will and some won't. Cheaper imported artificial grass will not be manufactured with the same quality attributes in mind, in order to keep costs down.

Cheaper synthetic grasses are unlikely to be treated with a UV protective coating and if these are continually exposed to sunlight year after year they will begin to fade gradually.

All our our artificial grasses are protected so you can be confident that a fake grass installed by Artificial Grass Leicester will stand the test of time as far as fading is concerned.

  • Is any additional artificial grass maintenance required in a play area?

We would recommend that you look after your artificial grass in play areas in the same way a residential customer would look after it in their garden. It is a reasonable investment, so it makes sense to look after it.

Depending on where your play area is located it may be subjected to dirt and debris falling or blowing onto it. Brushing these up will prevent it from becoming ingrained on top of the grass to create a top layer of fertile mulch from which weeds could grow.

Whilst we use excellent weed membranes these are designed to prevent weeds from forming and growing up from underneath the layer of artificial turf. However, if organic debris such as soil and leaves are left on top of your artificial lawn they will provide a base from which moss and algae can take hold along with seeds if they happen to land in the right spot.

This should be a very easy task. Brush artificial grass with the occasional brushing against the pile direction of the grass will keep your lawn looking good and prevent it from flattening down. However, many play areas will choose a very short  pile (sub 30mm) which means that you can even forgo this maintenance task.
